General Tailwind Information

What is the weight limit of Tailwind E-Bikes?

Tailwind E-Bikes will accommodate up to 330 lbs.

What is the height limit of Tailwind E-Bikes?

Tailwind bikes will accommodate riders of a variety of heights, from 5’3″ to 6’3″.

What is the top speed?

In Full Electric Mode, our Granito 1.0 and Zaffiro 2.0 models can go up to 18.5MPH, and our Rubino 4.0 can go up to 21.5MPH. Actual speeds will be affected by rider weight, temperature, road situations, incline, and battery status.

Do E-Bikes require a driver’s license, insurance, or registration?

No, you don’t. According to federal law, electric bikes that are under 750 watts are classified as bicycles. For all intents and purposes, it’s simply a bicycle that requires very little pedaling to travel 20 MPH, saving you time and hassle. The law does require the use of a helmet and riders to be at least 16 years old. Check your local state laws for requirements.

Can I make modifications to the E-Bike?

Tailwind E-Bikes have been engineered for peak performance and safety. We do not suggest modifying any aspects of the electronics or motor systems. Any modifications will void your warranty.

What accessories do Tailwind E-Bikes come with?

Tailwind E-Bikes come with an assembly tool kit and a bike pump.

How much do Tailwind E-Bikes weigh?

The most accurate way to determine any bike’s weight is to have your local bike technician weigh it for you. Weight can vary based on size, finish, hardware and accessories. All Tailwind bikes are designed for best-in-class weight and ride quality.

What happens if I get a flat tire?

The tires on our bikes are the same as conventional bicycles. Simply replace the tube with a tube of the right size and inflate it. No special tires or parts will be needed.

Can I ride up hills and against strong headwinds on my Tailwind electric bike?

Yes. One of the main advantages of cycling on a Tailwind electric bicycle is that it flattens hills and increases your average speed when tackling inclines and headwinds. If you provide a reasonable amount of effort, you should be able to tackle anything from a 10% gradient up to a 14% gradient. You will be amazed at the relative ease with which your new Tailwind electric bike can tackle some of the most arduous journeys.

Do I need to pedal an electric bike?

No, but it helps to prolong battery life. The motor on our bikes is both throttle and pedal assist controlled, allowing you to decide how much power you desire. Have you ever tried to cycle when speeding downhill on your normal bicycle? It’s just like that. The motor is propelling you faster than you’re cycling, so there is pretty much no resistance. It’s merely a formality!

What happens when I use the brakes under powered assistance?

All of our bikes are equipped with brake levers that have a built-in safety switch that automatically cuts off the motor power under normal braking conditions. This not only ensures a safe unpowered stopping feature, but also protects the motor under braking conditions so that it isn’t working against the brakes.

Are there multiple speeds/gears?

Yes. Each bike has 21 manual speeds and multiple motor speeds.

How big are Tailwind wheels?

Tailwind wheels are 26″.

Battery Information

How far can a Tailwind E-Bike go on a single charge?

This all depends on a few factors. Cycling with pedal assist along a straight road under normal conditions, the standard battery should last about 25-37 miles. Cycling up steep hills will obviously take more energy out of the battery and factors such as road surface, wind resistance, weight of the rider, and tire pressure will affect your range.

Here is more detailed range information for each Tailwind model:

Granito 1.0 Power Assist System (PAS) Mode: 25-31 miles
Granito 1.0 Full Electric Mode: 15-21 miles
Zaffiro 2.0 Power Assist System (PAS) Mode: 31-37 miles
Zaffiro 2.0 Full Electric Mode: 18-25 miles
Rubino 4.0 Power Assist System (PAS) Mode: 31-37 miles
Rubino 4.0 Full Electric Mode: 18-25 miles

How long do they take to charge?

It depends on the state of depletion, but around 3-6 hours if completely discharged.

Granito 1.0: 36V10AH
Zaffiro 2.0: 48V10AH
